Tonight (Sept.4) 10 Democratic American Presidential candidates will participate in an historic, televised town hall focused on climate change.
Walking is central to lowering carbon emissions. Walkable communities are also responsible for the highest density of economic activity in most regions across the United States. However, American policy is more focused on supporting high speed vehicle traffic (even in highly walkable areas) which makes walking arduous -- and even deadly.
VOOMcart supports the need to expand the global debate about transportation as it relates to climate change. Replacing gas-powered vehicles with electric vehicles is merely a starting point. The crucial role urban design plays in shaping communities and how we move around cities is essential.
