VOOMcart is passionate about the power of active transportation such as riding a bike or walking. We believe that active transportation can transform average days into great days.

Our mission was to create an effective alternative to the trunk of your car. We wanted to give active people the freedom of choice— the freedom to walk while accomplishing errands or carrying multiple items at once. Whether it's loading up on fresh goodies discovered at the farmer's market or a round trip to local shops from your home, the simple act of having an efficient way to transport your stuff can make the entire outing way more fun!

VOOMcart is proud to challenge our habitual behavioural patterns – our automatic response is often to grab the car keys or click the delivery button when we need to purchase heavier items. But, with VOOMcart we have introduced a happy alternative to getting errands done.

When we looked across the pond at how our counterparts in Europe choose to shop, we were inspired by their preference for shopping locally, often at markets and without cars. By doing so, they shop more often, have fresher meals, eat healthier, and save money by reducing food waste. Their walkable routine also reinforces human and community connections.

We’re thrilled to see North Americans finally taking notice of this type of lifestyle. One of the past year’s silver linings has been the growing spotlight on shopping local AND walking.

Shopping locally without a car or frequenting smaller food stores and farmer's markets is a shift for many of us. Adopting this positive habit can be compared to the 'The Habit Loop" a concept brought into the spotlight in the New York Times Bestseller “The Power of Habit” by Charles Duhigg.

What’s The Habit Loop?

According to Duhigg, “The Habit Loop” is a neurological pattern that governs any habit and consists of three elements:

The habit loop is always started with a cue, a trigger that transfers the brain into a mode that automatically determines which habit to use.

Understanding these components can help us change our bad habits or even better, to form good ones.

The “Golden Rule” of habit change states that if you keep the initial cue, replace the routine, and keep the reward, change will eventually occur. If the reward is powerful enough then this will help the brain determine if this particular loop is worth remembering for the future and can actually cause craving.

The important role that VOOMcart plays in creating a healthier habit are the rewards that one feels after walking their shop.
